Hello Forum :)
a week ago I poked a little bit in the documentation of the new Sopera release because I hadn't time to test it live :) And I remember that I read something about some restrictions concerning some versions. But I can't remember exactly today when starting to install the new release. But my problem is that I can't find the passage in the documentation neither :/ I remember that it had something to do either with the Eclipse Version or with the Java version. Maybe there is only BPEL-editor support with Eclipse 3.3 and not with Ganymede or there is no support for Java 1.6? I can't remember. Please help me and point me to the documentation befor installing Sopera.

Hi SidKennedy
Eclipse BPEL Editor only works with Eclipse 3.3.x (Europe), as it was not part of the Ganymede Release. SOPERA BPEL Tools can only be used with Eclipse 3.3.x.
You can find it in the ReleaseNotes for SOPERA ToolSuite.

Thank you Carsten. Does that mean that I can't do things that have to do with BPEL? For example Deploying a process to ODE? Or can't I produce BPEL-processes only?

Basically the BPEL support we have in SOPERA was only tested with Eclipse 3.3 and on later eclipse version you should just use the standard Eclipse BPEL editor, however we haven't tested it.
The reason behind the Eclipse 3.3 limitation is BPEL deployment components that weren't very reliable when we have used them last time therefore we are delivering some external BPEL deploymer, the rest is standard BPEL Editor you can find on Eclipse.

that means that it COULD be possible that all will work fine with Ganymede? but is it possible to install sopera two times on the same machine on different eclipse-versions?

Hello Sid,
yes, that is no problem. You can install SOPERA ToolSuite two times into different Eclipse Versions. Just be sure that also the ToolSuite (ServiceBackbone, DevBox etc) target install directories are different.

Ok I'll give it a try :)

Hello Sid,
Just be sure that also the ToolSuite (ServiceBackbone, DevBox etc) target install directories are different.
Doas this mean, that I have to install the whole suite for new? Or do I have to install only the service studio for new and just copy the other directories?

Ok I just installed the whole suite with all of its components in another directory and it works :)
thanks

Hello Sid, sorry I did not see your question earlier, but it seems you found the answer yourself ;): The whole suite
The exact answer would be: ServiceBackbone + All components which you do want to use in both Eclipse IDE's.

I have a tip for you SOPERA-guys. In the BPEL-newsgroup from eclipse I found that thread: http://www.eclipse.org/newsportal/article.php?id=368&group=eclipse.technology.bpel-designer#368
I just copied the jars into my plugin-folder (except the org.eclipse.bpel.examples.extensionPoints) and bpel-support seems to work. Maybe it is a workaround temporary until an official Ganyemede release appears.
Hi Sid,
I was a little late to find your post. Thanks for the hint, much appreciated.
Best regards
Jerry
